چکیده

Introduction: Contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) is a new technique for cancer investigations. The application of this to screen the breast would result in contrast improvement different lesions. This can be effectively ensured by use phantoms. Computational phantoms are one ways investigate characteristics received image and thus evaluate whole technique. Aim: aim study validate analyse design three computational CESM. Materials Methods: An in-house software tool was used create phantoms, consisting iodinated inserts simulation CESM procedure. modelled from Omnipaque, have radius 8–10 mm varying height. made polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), with shape composition. One characterised heterogeneous background. For each phantom two x-ray radiographs were generated, at energy 20keV 34 keV. images processed obtain recombined iodine image, which shows agent suppresses surrounding background tissue. Results: Simulated demonstrated great quality compared low-energy simulations inhomogeneous model revealed that has been successively depressed while improving visibility inserts. Conclusion: might as reference information about needed concentration needs inserted during procedure significant enhancement suspicious area.

An introduction to contrast enhanced spectral mammography

Contrast enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) is a new technology, gaining acceptance throughout Europe and the USA, but only recently introduced to the UK. GE Healthcare is currently the only UK vendor of CESM, using the brand name Senobright. In this article, we will explore the theory behind the technology and the practicalities of performing the test. A brief literature overview is provided...

Comparison between Breast MRI and Contrast-Enhanced Spectral Mammography

BACKGROUND The main goal of this study was to compare contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) and breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with histopathological results and to compare the sensitivity, accuracy, and positive and negative predictive values for both imaging modalities. MATERIAL/METHODS After ethics approval, CESM and MRI examinations were performed in 102 patients who had ...

Contrast-Enhanced Spectral Mammography: Comparison with Conventional Mammography and Histopathology in 152 Women

OBJECTIVE The goal of the study was to compare conventional mammography (MG) and contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) in preoperative women. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study was approved by the local Ethics Committee and all participants provided informed consent. The study included 152 consecutive patients with 173 breast lesions diagnosed on MG or CESM. All MG examinations and consu...

Dual-energy contrast-enhanced mammography.

The degree of vascularization in breast lesions is related to their malignancy. For this reason, functional diagnostic imaging techniques have become important in recent years. Dual-energy contrast-enhanced mammography is a new, apparently promising technique in breast cancer that provides information about the degree of vascularization of the lesion in addition to the morphological information...

Quantitative contrast-enhanced mammography for contrast medium kinetics studies.

Quantitative contrast-enhanced mammography, based on a dual-energy approach, aims to extract quantitative and temporal information of the tumour enhancement after administration of iodinated vascular contrast media. Simulations using analytical expressions and optimization of critical parameters essential for the development of quantitative contrast-enhanced mammography are presented. The proce...
